A slight change of plan

We received some information from our in country contact, Manisha last week advising of some political strife in the Itahari area. Manisha monitored the situation for a week and over the weekend we recevied a further update telling us our build had been moved to Pokhara. I've been keeping an eye on The Himalayan Times and the situation seems to be affecting petroleum product supplies - this is more than just transport, people use kerosene for lighting and cooking as well. There have also been street demonstrations that have turned violent.
It is a shame that we will not get to meet the children of the SOS Childrens Village but I can understand why Habitat for Humanity would not risk sending us there.
Moving our build to Pokhara means we should have vistas of the Himalayas for most of the time we are away. Our hotel, Hotel Shikhar, boasts views of Lake Phewa on one side and the mountains, most prominently Fishtail mountain on the other side.
At this point we don't know who we will be building with, but whoever it is, we are sure to share some amazing experiences
Not long till the start of our adventure now....
