April fools day

We woke today with a clear view of the Himalayan mountains, in particular Mt Fishtail, truely breathtaking ... UNBELIEVABLE!!

We spent most of the today carting large rocks from one side of the village to another and replenishing the water supply, of which I am amazed and very pleased to say I did 10 times today! This involves an extremely long down hill trek of around 200mt down and a 500mt walk. The locals carry their washing and gather their water from this location every day.

I thought I was doing really well with my 10 litres of water until I saw the local women carrying anything up to 40 kilos on their backs! You've got to be kidding me! It really makes you realise how soft western life has become.

After a healthy lunch of dhal, rice and curred vegies (again) it was more of the same. Mixing concrete, laying bricks for house B (which is almost finished ...YAY!) and making sure house A had all the God Damb!!! rocks it needed for a very strong foundation... We clocked off at 5pm and headed up to the Tuborg Hotel (a very small local establishment of which we have ceremoniously named and are certain is owned by the drivers brother!!) for the coldest beer in town!

Dot (with the help of the lovely June-La-La-Praik) put together a terrific song book for us ... and we merrily sang to the locals a few original songs. To our absolute amazement and joy ... the local kids joined in and treated us to to some Nepalese traditional folk songs which just blew us all away!

We'll be back for a bit of the same tomorrow ... including we hope a game of soccer with the kids
(who we are certain will flog us simply because we're so bloody sore from working a full-on physical day it will be interesting to see just who wins!!)

Dinner tonight was interesting ... one by one we're discovering the joys of alcohol at heights above 1500 meters. Our individual recommendation would probably be...

Don't drink and build... !!!

Until tomorrow.
