Yes !!!... tomorrow we actually get a day off but first lets talk about today.
The day didn't start well for some, our first task was to heave more bloody great rocks up from the river, luckily only 40 of them but two of us stayed back to mix 'masala' or cement to you non Nepali's. While rocks were being brought up from the depths I was taught how to cement between the bricks as they were laid on House A. I think I developed a real talent for it and now know exactly how much 'pani' (water) to add to my mix to make it 'soupy' enough to get it between the bricks.
Gathering bamboo for the scaffolding was the next task as was colllectling even more bloody rocks but at least these rocks were from the top not in the river.
Jason managed to get himself a very nasty rash on his neck that just kept spreading and looked quite serious. When we arrived at our usual lunch spot, our host saw the rash and immediately started rubbing his head against Jasons neck. It was a very funny site.. he then took a large knife of dubious cleanliness from the kitchen and started scraping at the rash. This now had Jason perplexed and the rest of us facinated. It turns out Jason had been stung by a catapillar and all the small hairs has lodged in his skin, scraping and rubbing with the head apparenly gets the hairs out of the skin. Jasons itching subsided almost immediately but Host decided on one more head rub, I think just for our enjoyment. Oh, and Jason is fine now.
Our quote of the day came from Team Leader JB when he slid half way down a steep hill and landed on his butt. When asked if he was ok, he responded "lucky I've got this rock up my *rse".
D*ckhead of the day went to Sarah who managed to demolish part of the top step the home owner had just finished constructing - to make up for it I added a sun burst pattern to the step when he finished cementing it after some quick repairs
I seem to have started a bit of a fashion trend over here - two young girls in different communities have plaited their hair like mine - the youngest one who I now call Mini Me even had hers extended with red wool.
Oh, and our day off has a 5.00am start so we can see the sunrise over Fishtail mountain.
Keep reading and missing us
Dot :-)
